My lips are always chapped its kinda tough to get rid of it?( chap stick doesnt work)?

Don't lick your lips. It may make your lips feel better temporarily, but you'll be making matters worse. Licking your lips has the same drying effect as constantly washing your hands; the repeated exposure to water actually robs moisture from the skin, causing it to become dry.

Use a lip balm. Numerous products are available over the counter. Pick one that you like so you'll use it frequently. Most lip balms are waxy or greasy and work by sealing in moisture with a protective barrier. Plain old petroleum jelly works just fine, too.

Screen out the sun. The sun's ultraviolet rays can damage and dry the sensitive skin on your lips in the same way they can harm the skin on other parts of your body. Indeed, the lips are a common site for skin cancer, since they don't contain melanin, a pigment (coloring) that helps protect skin from ultraviolet rays. Certain skin cancers that appear on the lips may be more serious and more likely to spread, too, so if you'll be out in the sun, use a lip balm that contains sunscreen. Choose a product that has an SPF (sun protection factor) of 15 or higher.

Check out your toothpaste. You might want to consider whether an allergy to your toothpaste or mouthwash could be to blame for the rough, red skin on your lips. Try switching brands of toothpaste and skipping the mouthwash for a few days to see if the problem clears. Also, rinse well after brushing.

Watch what passes between them. When lips are chapped, they're more sensitive, and certain foods can irritate them. Hold off on pepper, mustard, barbecue sauce, orange juice, and alcoholic beverages to give your lips a break as they heal.

I hope I helped. Have a GREAT day! :]My lips are always chapped its kinda tough to get rid of it?( chap stick doesnt work)?
Regular chapstick has an ingredient in it that makes your lips addicted, so to speak, so if you quit using it your lips dry out that much faster. Take a toothbrush and gently brush the skin off your lips then use an all natural lip balm like Burt's Beeswax medicated lip balm, or go to a health food store and see what they have. I have gotten a chapstick before, but I can't remember where, but it had hemp seed oil in it and it smelled like spearmint. That stuff was amazing if you ever come across it. I hope this helps you.My lips are always chapped its kinda tough to get rid of it?( chap stick doesnt work)?
Get yourself a tube or jar of ';AQUAPHOR';...it is great!! Petroleum based but has healing ingredients, too. Apply at night and during the day...it works the best. Chapstick is not heavy enough for really dry lips..especially in the cold.
burts bees
Aquaphor is the best for chapped lips. People who take Accutane for acne get really dry skin on their lips and body and the Dermatologist recommends it for dry skin and chapped lips. it is also good during the winter time if you live in the cold climate. Good luck.
I'm outside a lot and mine chap bad, vaseline helps more than anything I have tried, every night at bedtime, sleep with it on there.
try carmex or vaseline. i have really chapped lips too and this works very well.
Ok, heres the short of the best way to do it...

1. scrub... Get a light lip scrub and use it every other night.

2. chapstick... I know u said it duzent work but thats cuz you have dead skin on top. use it all the time, have one everywhere with you. (try burts bees)

3. Vasaline... use it evry night, and put alot so that your lips sok it up!!!

I get dry lips in the winter and I find gently exfoliating them every night works. Either borrow a bit of exfoliator from a female relative and rub it gently on, or use the bristles of your toothbrush. Then take a generous amount of vaseline or another petroleum jelly and massage it in.

Regular chapstick may contain trace amounts of alcohol- which drys lips out... so vaseline will be your best bet. Take Vitamin A (helps moisturize from the inside out) and Vitamin E supplements daily (protects your skin from free radicals in the enviroment that dry out skin and lips naturally). Vitamin E is also found in nuts, peanut butter, green veggies, whole grains and fish, Vitamin A is found in milk and cheese, etc. and drink as much water as you can regularly.
I use blistex and also drink lots of water.
try carmex. it works gr8!

weird enough it is sometimes because the dead skin is not moist enough to flake off naturally.

use a concentrated moisturiser for lips at night and in the morning, if your lips are not cut, gently give a little scrub with your toothbrush, no tooth paste, to help flake off any dead cells, then keep up the moisture. DONT LICK YOUR LIPS, this makes it worse!
