vasalineHelp... How do i get rid of chapped lips?
You can very *gently* buff the dead skin off your lips with a soft tooth brush or washcloth - however you want to be extra careful since they are bleeding. Some recommend opening a vitamin E capsule and applying vitamin E to your lips. There is a Blistex cream for chapped lips - that is indeed - a white cream - this is the only product that worked for me when I had severely chapped lips for two weeks. Sometimes chapped lips can also have an underlying cause - you can even have a yeast infection on your lips - it is recommended that if the condition doesn't go away within 2 weeks that you see a doctor or dermatologist - as I am sure you are very uncomfortable!

I'm linking you to a picture of the Blistex product that helped me - later on, I purchased lip butters from online (they are all natural) and these stop it before it gets too uncomfortable - but you're already at that point. You can find the Blistex product at Wal-mart or Walgreens.
Brush them when you brush your teeth, this renews the skin and removes the dead skin every morning and night.

Steer clear of using petroleum jelly for your lips as this makes them crave moisture more when you do not use it.

Use something designed for chapped lips such as a medicated balm from your pharmacy, the pharmacist should be able to help.

you may have to spend a little more money than is comfortable but if you use that once daily and an additional cheaper lip balm plus brushing, it will be money worth spent.
do you have vaseline? Smear some every night it should help with your dry lips. Also drink lots of water and try not to lick your lips. chapstick will help during the day since vaseline looks glossy and I'm not sure if you're a guy or not.

If your lips are super messed up put some neosporin *only if you have it* or any ointment for cuts under the vaseline at night
step 1. get some vasaline and smear it over lips.

step 2. get a toothbrush and wash it with water then gently massage your lips with it.

step 3. repeat if needed.

step 4. get some lip balm like chap stick and put it on your lips

hope that works :]
the best stuff ever is papaw ointment, it's cheap, all the celebs use it...only problem is it's australian so it could be difficult to get a hold of overseas

drink heaps

vaseline's also awesome

edit: someone above said blistex...DONT

it's really bad, it makes it worse
chapstick, vasiline

burts bees works fine...if you cant buy it...steal it. %26lt;kidding

if you cant afford burts bees, look up some recipies and make your own. it prolly wont cost that much

and why wouldnt chapstick be safe? its there to cure chapped lips not give you cancer
Dude, chapstick is safe. If you wanna get hardcore about it though, put some vaseline (not from the jar in your parents room with the pubic hairs in it) on your lips before you go to sleep or a thick greezy KFC coat of chapstick.
I had the same problem. Constantly chapped, peeling, bleeding...

Owie!

Then I found something that has worked!

Its Watkins Petro-Carbo Salve. I put a thin coating on my lips once a day... and they haven't split since.

www.watkinsonline.com
Palmers Chocoalate and Peppermint or Chocolate and cherry lip gloss or lip balm, i prefer the lip gloss
ONE WORD: CARMEX

its cheap and works on everykind of lips.

It doesnt sting your open cuts or peeling!!!

It is really good!!!

Use it atleast 3 times a day on your lips and it will make them smooth and soft .............

GOOD LUCK!!!
why not buy burt's bees???

its not THAT expensive...its like 3-4 dollars tops

and if its so bad that your bleeding from smiling i think you can spend the extra money to get your lips back to normal
chapstick is good, the medicated kind would probably be best. but if you don't want to spend money, drinking lots of water over time you rlips will heal themselves.
Blistex and you will need to apply frequently. One thing Angelina Jolie never leaves the house with out it chopstick. lol was in an interview.

Or you can use Vaseline.
chapstick is better than nothing. Vasaline is good too. Drink more water and keep hydrated, that will help.
Chapstick works and should be ok.
Chapstick or vasaliene. you should find some around the house.
Chap stick or you could use nivea anyway enjoy your day.
Blistex with SPF 15 (or greater) ... the SPF will protect your lips from the Sun.
Chapstick is fine.
preperation h
chap stick should be safe...

i haven't heard of any death by chap stick before.

(or you could apply Vaseline)
you should def try to use chapstick...or blistex
use carmax it will heal it in less then 3 days if you apply it 4 times daily. and its cheap
use vasline that works
I've found the best thing is Vaseline or something with petroleum jelly, and drinking enough water. I can tell you from experience that when my lips get like that, if I make sure to drink plenty of water for the next few days, they get better. Cracked lips can be one of the first signs of even minor dehydration. They're different than the rest of skin - drinking water doesn't actually moisturize the skin on your body; rather, it just plumps it up, assuming you're reasonably hydrated. Also, of course, don't lick your lips. A good way to keep from doing this is to use a chapstick that doesn't have any flavor. Especially avoid things like peppermint and menthol - they actually irritate your skin %26amp; make the problem worse. Below is an article from a reputable site that includes refererences to medical sources, etc. Hope this helps! Good luck :)

';Chapped Lips

By Paula Begoun

Problem: What should I do about my eternally chapped lips? No matter what I use, the chapping never goes away.

Solution: Whether they are responding to cold, dry weather, an arid climate, or just tend to be dry, chapped lips are a pain. Cracking, flaking, and chapping are not only uncomfortable but also unsightly, and applying lipstick often seems to make it look even worse. Not to worry because you can solve those dry-lips blues with consistency and patience. Chapped lips are not going to disappear in a day, and missing even one day of treatment can drive lips back to dryness.

Lips are more vulnerable to the environment than any other part of the face because they do not contain oil glands. This means that keeping your lips moist and sealed against the weather is essential. There are lots of emollient lip products that do just that, and the more emollient they are, the better. Ingredients like lanolin, shea butter, cocoa butter, and even Vaseline are all excellent emollients. However, many lip products are little more than wax coatings that make lips feel thick and protected when they are on (original ChapStick is a great example), but they don't really moisturize or provide protection from the weather outside or dry heat and air conditioning inside.

A lot of lip products also claim to be medicated. ';Medicated'; is a dubious term at best, with no regulated meaning. These products usually contain camphor, menthol, peppermint oil, or eucalyptus, but these are not medicines for dry lips! Instead, they can irritate and actually make lips burn, which isn't helpful for lips that are already dry and chapped. Products like Blistex, which includes 0.5% phenol, are the exception because they truly are medicated; phenol kills anything that gets in its way. However, phenol is strong stuff and can actually trigger some irritation and dryness all by itself. I would not recommend it for anything but very limited use.

You may have heard a rumor that lips can adapt to or become addicted to lip balm. It isn't possible. But if the lip balm you use contains irritating ingredients, your lips will stay chapped. When a lip product contains irritating, drying ingredients, there is no way the beneficial emollient ingredients can help. Likewise, if you use a lip product that is just waxy, with no emollients or water-binding agents, it can only plaster down the dry skin; it doesn't reduce the dryness.

I am quite fond of BeautiControl's LipApeel ($18 for 1.25 ounces). This two-step product exfoliates the chapped skin with a waxy cream you rub over the lips and then you apply a very emollient balm. It is one of the only really gentle and effective exfoliating products I've ever seen for lips. BeautiControl's ordering number is (800) BEAUTI-1. I also developed two products that work similarly: Paula's Choice Exfoliating Treatment ($7.95 for 0.5 ounce) and one of my personal favorites, Paula's Choice Lip %26amp; Body Treatment Balm ($7.95 for 0.5 ounce).

Here's what you need to do: At night, after cleansing your face, apply a thick layer of an emollient lip balm (even a very thick emollient lip gloss can work well). Do this every night as part of your nightly skin-care routine and you will be thrilled with the difference in how your lips look.

For daytime care, it is best to use an SPF 15 lip balm that contains avobenzone, titanium dioxide, or zinc oxide. However, if you wear an opaque lipstick, it may not be essential to have that kind of SPF protection. Research has shown that women who apply lipstick more than once a day are at a much lower risk of getting lip cancer than women who apply lipstick less often (Source: Cancer Causes and Control, July 1996, pages 458鈥?63). Theoretically, opaque lipsticks have enough sun-blocking protection to enable them to screen out the sun's skin cancer鈥揷ausing rays. Still, you may as well play it safe and use a lip balm or lipstick with sunscreen daily, especially when you are in the sun for long periods of time. Paula's Choice Moisturizing Lipscreen SPF 15 ($6.95 for 0.16 ounce) is great for portable lip protection, or if you want soft color and sun protection, consider Paula鈥檚 Choice Sheer Cream Lipstick SPF 15 ($9.95), also available in Invisible for lightweight glossy sun protection without color. Revlon Moisturous SPF 17 and Almay Pure Tints SPF 25 are also options to consider.';
