I can't feel anything on my lips or nipples?
Supposedly there is supposed to be tons of nerve endings on people's lips and nipples, but I don't feel anything on them, they're like numb. But I'm very sensitive on my hands and feet. Is this normal? Are other people like this? Where are you sensitive/insensitive at?I can't feel anything on my lips or nipples?

i usually bite the skin off my lips a lot and done it ofr the past few years. i want to make them heal and i have been applying lip balm every day but i noticed that there's still a lot of dry skin and it feels all bumpy and rough, should i try to get rid of that skin or should i leave it completely alone? will it heal faster if i just leave it alone?Question about trying to heal my lips?
If you've been biting your lips for a while, then you probably have a little damage done. You didn't just bite then overnight, so don't expect then to heal overnight. I wouldn't peel off anymore of the skin. You can purchase some lip exfoliate, but only use it once a week. And I would recommend some Carmex, to moisturize them. You'll need a heavy duty balm to help. Carry some with you all the time and when you think about it, slather it on. If you don't have any, u can use Vaseline, but try not to eat it. Well, to begin with I have found that chapped lips is one indication that you arent drinking enough water. When this happens to me I drink my water more often and the problem subsides. In cold weather however I have to use chap stick. My lips are big so I know about the changes from chapped lips. What ever you do don't pick at them you can tear the dead skin at the soft flesh of skin and tear off more than you want. the results is bleeding and soreness. Drink your water and put blistex on your lips. This works better than chap stick.

i have a really hard time with severe chapped lips and i've found that blistex works the best. the white stuff in the white tube...i load up on it at night before i go to bed and wake up with really soft lips. plus it has the tinglies so when your lips get really dry and itchy it's very soothing...love it. hope this helps!

Chapped lips are caused by licking your lips frequently which dries them out. Try massaging your lips daily with a soft baby tooth brush to exfoliate them and gently remove dead skin, then apply vaseline to them...it's lickproof! when you're out in the sun, don't forget to apply sunscreen to your lips: they don't contain any melanin to offer natural protection. Never lick your lips. Most chapsticks work, and vaseline, blistex, and Carmex works too. I like the Jamba Juice Chapsticks. They taste good too.
put a warm wet washcloth on your lips for a few minutes to soften the chapped skin and then use it to exfoliate. follow up with vanilla chapstick w/ spf 15.
most people will tell you use a product with petroleum jelly but over time that will actually make your lips more dry ( i only found that out recently) something with vitamin e and lanolin are quite good for dry lips. you might want to apply a thick layer of lanolin cream on at night, you will find inthe morning your lips will be much better
My wife likes to use Carmex, but I've always preferred a product in a small beige colored round container made by Blistex called DCT ( Daily Conditioning Treatment ). It works great and doesn't have as much of a medicinal smell as Carmex does. I've found it at Wal-Mart %26amp; Walgreen's or I'm sure at any other pharmacy-type store. Well, to begin with I have found that chapped lips is one indication that you arent drinking enough water. When this happens to me I drink my water more often and the problem subsides. In cold weather however I have to use chap stick. My lips are big so I know about the changes from chapped lips. What ever you do don't pick at them you can tear the dead skin at the soft flesh of skin and tear off more than you want. the results is bleeding and soreness. Drink your water and put blistex on your lips. This works better than chap stick.

i have a really hard time with severe chapped lips and i've found that blistex works the best. the white stuff in the white tube...i load up on it at night before i go to bed and wake up with really soft lips. plus it has the tinglies so when your lips get really dry and itchy it's very soothing...love it. hope this helps!

Listen up, use vaseline, or go to www.marykay.com and find a consultant near you! They have a a scrub and a lip thing. It works pretty fast. Your lips will be smooth within a day or 2. Chapped lips are caused by licking your lips frequently which dries them out. put a warm wet washcloth on your lips for a few minutes to soften the chapped skin and then use it to exfoliate. follow up with vanilla chapstick w/ spf 15.
most people will tell you use a product with petroleum jelly but over time that will actually make your lips more dry ( i only found that out recently) something with vitamin e and lanolin are quite good for dry lips. you might want to apply a thick layer of lanolin cream on at night, you will find inthe morning your lips will be much better
My wife likes to use Carmex, but I've always preferred a product in a small beige colored round container made by Blistex called DCT ( Daily Conditioning Treatment ). It works great and doesn't have as much of a medicinal smell as Carmex does. I've found it at Wal-Mart %26amp; Walgreen's or I'm sure at any other pharmacy-type store. To make eyes look bigger use an eyeliner only on the outside corner of the eyes and use a light shadow over the entire lid. Use a slightly darker shade on the bone just above the outside corner of the eye and blend. Then use teh lightest shade of matching color just under the brow bone. Blend all well.
For plumper lips use a neutral shade of lip liner and blend in well. Then, use a natural shade of lipstick. try a nice nude shade or a a light peach. I promise they will look bigger. I do this myself.

It conditions and hydrates your lips while using spf to protect them, but makes your lips look WHITE WHITE WHITE. :) As much as I love it, I gotta cover it immediately with lip gloss/stick or rub it into my lips for a good 5 minutes to make the whiteness go away.
It almost makes my lips turn purplish, like I've been freezing in the cold for a good hour. :P

Okay so I am just a 13 year old kid, so I'm pretty sure I don't have herpes, but could my red inflamed (but no sores) lips and the area around it be linked to my eczema? Well i have braces to, and if its inside your mouth try putting wax over the part thats cutting you.. If its not that swish with warm water and salt or swish cold water. If it still bothers you after a week see a dentist.

Sometimes you can get something that is called a macule on your lip or a varicosity. A macule tends to be more brownish in color and a varicosity tends to be more purplish in color. Neither one is of great concern. You do want to have someone look at it, just to make sure. You should keep an eye on it to ensure that it doesn't grow in size or begin to have irregular borders. I found the site a year ago but it got deleted from my wonderful computer; it had several various artist-- beginning artists mainly but the art(drawings and color pictures) were wonderful! I have a serious case (for me, anyway) of chaped lips (red and hurt). I've tried chapstick (medicated and moisturizing) and it's not helping to clear up the problem. I'd be greatful for any suggestions.

I love Bonnie Bell's Lip Smackers. It's not thick %26amp; waxy like Chapstick. And an added bonus, it's not tested on animals.
I have the same problem so I know what it's like and the lip stuff that I've found that works really well is C.O. Bigelow at Bath %26amp; Body Works. The balm is infused with menthol so it soothes and heals (as stupid as it may sound). Also, if you want something cshiny, they have glosses and colored glosses so you can heal your lips all the time. I do agree that drinking water helps a lot, as does getting all your vitamins.

Burt's Bees is a good start or do an online search for natural lip balm. There are a lot of cottage industry businesses out there making wonderful skin care products- soap, lotions, balms.
Or check your local health store.

Drinking water often will also help to moisten your lips from the inside.

Chapstick has always dried my lips. Carmex helps initially but has an addictive factor to it. Some lipsticks especially do a number on me in the winter as well. Burt's Bees is very good and has come out with an extended line . I see it at CVS and Walgreens.
I've always called Chapstick, Chap-wax it plain doesn't work.
They have some really good ones at the healthfood stores that don't just create a barrier over the lip, but have oils that penetrate into the skin. Burt's bees is a good one.
Extra virgin olive oil works like a charm.

';curing';, and the stick is great for every day.
I use a brand called Soft Lips it works really great. It feels really silky on the lips as opposed to the thick clumpy feeling you get from chapstick. In the health care section it is with the other chapsticks. It is in a single pack (usually) and the tube is long and skinny. It is a bit pricey compared to chapstick (1.20-1.50 it might even be closer to two dollars but its been awhile since I had to buy a tube. One lasts about 3 months for me) but it works really well and I love it to pieces. The second you put it on you'll feel it working.
I have been using it for the past six years as I always get chap lips and it is the best that I have used

sometimes the skin will heal over the backing of your spike so be sure it doesnt do that. the moist parts of your body heal fastest because its moist, so be careful that it doesn't heal over the backing.Is my lip rings supposed to be thight on my lips at first?

You just need to go back to your piercer and have the jewelry changed to something longer (if they are labret studs), or something larger in diameter (if they are CBRs, or circular barbells).
Hard to say with out seeing it, but it could be, probably is, the swelling. Most professional piercers know to pierce with jewelry large enough to allow for swelling. They did tell you you'd need to size down later, after the swelling goes away...right?
Take some ibuprofen (Advil, Alleve, to reduce the swelling.)
Icing lips doesn't really help with the swelling, though it's great for tongues. It won't hurt you though, and might feel soothing.
Also do the sea salt soaks, that will help as well.

Here are some thoughts: the peeling %26amp; redness along with getting too much sun can affect it, but I think you are allergic to something. If you are putting something on your lips (lip gloss, lipstick or that white stuff they use to protect you from sunburn (some people put it on their nose). I have the same thing, its just from the kind of tone you have in your skin. But what i do is i put on my foundation and then a little extra concealer on it. rub in the foundation good and then dab the concealer over it. good luck

I have the same thing, its just from the kind of tone you have in your skin. But what i do is i put on my foundation and then a little extra concealer on it. rub in the foundation good and then dab the concealer over it. good luck

Relax, that's probably the BEST thing you could do for your lips, but I would suggest doing what I do and putting it on overnight, this prevents drying off for as long as possible and removes the temptation to lick it off(and we all have that urge, face it) Keep it up. Also, when your in the shower, try and use a wash cloth or scrub pouffe to gently exfoliate your lips. This will better allow your lips to absorb that great moisture AND gets rid of that cakey dead skin (ugh) Hope this answers your question and leaves you Secure that your not alone.

You can eat, drink, swim, kiss and it will not come off . Try it!
What u r doing is right, but ther is a method to do it:
1. rub - wet ur lips with water n rub your lips gently with vaseline.
2. scrub - Then rub your lips with a smooth cloth so that the dead skin comes out.
3. remove tan - rub ur lips with some lemon juice regularly to get the original pink skin.
4. protect - wash it off n then apply another coat of vaseline when lips are still a little wet n then apply a very very small amount of waterbased sunscreen, n then again a little bit of vaseline.
5. This may sound funny but it works! If u wanna use lipstick, do the same thing except applying sunscreen. the vaseline will give u a glossy shade n the best finishing touch!

3)brush your lips with a soft bristle toothbrush.

yes, you can gently rub a slice of lemon on lips regularly.. it can lighten any dark patch but can be a bit drying.. since you moisturize with vaseline, that's good enough.
well, since citrus is an exfoliator, yes, a lemon would work, but you'd have to scrub your lips with it.
I apply Vaseline onto an old toothbrush and brush them if they're cracking or peeling. Then I go to sleep with some Vaseline on or Lip Butter from The Body Shop. Vaseline works great after you've brushed your lips, but try lip butters, with are more rich and creamy then lip glosses. They can be found at Body Shops, and maybe even drug marts.

What u r doing is right, but ther is a method to do it:
1. rub - wet ur lips with water n rub your lips gently with vaseline.
2. scrub - Then rub your lips with a smooth cloth so that the dead skin comes out.
3. remove tan - rub ur lips with some lemon juice regularly to get the original pink skin.
4. protect - wash it off n then apply another coat of vaseline when lips are still a little wet n then apply a very very small amount of waterbased sunscreen, n then again a little bit of vaseline.
5. This may sound funny but it works! If u wanna use lipstick, do the same thing except applying sunscreen. the vaseline will give u a glossy shade n the best finishing touch!

Okay, so my sister wakes up with her bottom lip fat and numb. Then minutes later, the top lip is fat and numb. those answers are great. exfoliate the dead skin from your lips -- by brushing or with a gentle exfoliant. mary kay has a rather inexpensive one, i believe. the most important thing is constant moisturizing. i carry a stick of chapstick in my pocket like it's my right arm. i suggest trader joe's spearmint cuz it makes your mouth minty, and it's soft enough to glide on smooth, and hard enough not to break or melt in your pocket. burt's bees is also fabulous, but not my personal favorite. what also helps is to moisturize your lips at NIGHT while you sleep. i prefer the petroleum jelly over the stick for evening use. you can get cheapo carmex, but is has a distinctive smell. chapstick brand makes a special ';overnight'; chapstick that is fabulous. any liquid balm will do. just add the lip thing to your nightly routine after you brush your teeth. and drink lots of water. one should drink an 8-ounce glass of water for each hour s/he is awake.How can I have naturally soft and silky lips???

Your tongue is a muscle and maybe it reacts to the pressure our other muscles are under. It almost seems like a balancer to me. We make funny faces cause we are expressing ourselves with everything we can to get the point across. Sticking our tongue out and crossing our eyes or squinching up our face just help paint the picture we are wanting others to see or feel.

im white and i have big lips. i have bigger lips than all of my friends, so most white people don't have big lips. i used to wish i had skinnier lips but i like them now.
